Hip Men’s Boots and Men’s Dress Shoes for 2006

by Bruno

Men’s dress shoes are nice but give me more boots please! I think the world of mens shoes is too much dominated by the mens dress shoe and not enough attention is paid to the mens boot. Oh the lonely boot who sits in the closet while the other shoes go to work all day and yet another pair gets picked for dinner while the boot gets pushed further and further back. Boots aren’t just for punks and cowboys, the boot is a shoe whose time has come, gone, and come again.

Boots come in so many different styles, colors and materials today that you can always find a pair to match your look and they are a great way to change up your style without veering wildly off track. We’ve already looked at Cowboy Boots so let’s take a look at some more punk inspired shoes that fit the bill

Tredair – A combination of mens dress shoe and boot with a great sole, this hybrid from Tredair is perfect to put a strong accent on almost any urban style from punk to hip-hop, office to casual. Plus, its durable yet cushy sole is great for urban walking. I also like the burgundy red color for this coming spring, summer and fall. An all around great men’s shoe.

Inamagura – The Crow – This boot is obviously styled after the fatal Brandon Lee movie of the same name. I like this mens boot for the neo-futurist and film noir stylings. (If you’re into S & M this is the boot for you.) But more seriously, if this boot is paired with up-tempo clothes it creates an alluring look of guy-next-door with a bit of a dark side – what could be sexier?

Biker Boot – I just think this is a great example of a hip mens biker boot. When I look at this style I really want to see the calf strap. The strap makes this mens boot classy somehow, otherwise this style turns out to be clunky and oafish.

Dr Martens – Doc Martens are great mens shoes we all know, but when it comes to style you have to be picky because a lot of their shoes are ugly. These next four however offer some unique, hip, and classic designs that make them mens dress shoes worth owning. These first two men’s boots are nicely colored and styled. The vintage takes us back to the first days of the London Underground and the cherry red is a moderately bold fashion boot to give a man a great accent. I love using a bit of a stylishly aggresive offering for a men’s dress shoe.

Reminding me of Oxford College this lightweight peanut mens boot and the boot inspired single-strap mens dress shoe both have a casual sophistication that I find appealing and both pair well with denim and medium hued suit wear.

These are my favorite mens Boot and Boot Inspired men’s dress shoe picks for the coming months. They all add flair to your fashion and keep you solidly on your feet. When it comes to foot wear these shoes and boots and others like them are perfect for hip, everyday fashion.
